I could ramble on and on about how much I love Boston. Seriously, it is by far my favorite city in the U.S. Every season brings THE cutest and most special charm. From the Halloween decor in Beacon Hill, to watching snow fall in the North End, having a picnic with friends on the Esplanade, and riding bikes in the crisp spring air. I was lucky enough to live there for two years and got to experience most of what the city has to offer… and I want to share it ALL with you!
Here are some of my most favorite cost-effective things to do in Boston!!
1. Bike rides along the Charles River
If you have your own bike, awesome. If not, go and rent one from Blue Bikes and ride along the Charles River ASAP. Seriously it is SO peaceful and makes you feel like the main character. My friends and I would always go for post work bike rides or for sunset! Use this time to reflect on your day, spend time with a good friend(s), and enjoy just being alive in the moment!
2. Picnic in the Boston Commons or Public Gardens
Grab your favorite snacks or takeaway, a picnic blanket, maybe a speaker, some drinks, and some quality people and head to the Commons! DeLucas is a cute, nearby grocery store (on Charles Street) to get some snacks or produce, Kured for your own customizable charcuterie board, Nuts Factory for some candy/ nuts/ cookies/ other goodies, and Cobblestones for fresh grab and go options and amazing soups/ sandwiches!
3. Visit the Boston Public Library and Beacon Hill Books and Café
These libraries are my favorite in Boston. The Boston Public Library is SO grand and beautiful. The outdoor space has a fountain with tables for you to sit, relax, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings right in the heart of the city. I love to bring lunch here and read my book! The Beacon Hill Library is located on Charles Street and has any and every book you could need or want. It is so adorable to walk around and find new books!
4. Harbor Walk in the North End with Coffee and a Pastry
The Harbor walk is such a great way to start the morning. With a coffee and or pastry in hand, this ~1.5 mile walk along the Boston harbor/ wharf is perfect. You’re able to feel the fresh ocean breeze, sun on your face, and if your lucky see some cute dogs along the way.
5. Join a Run Club on Meetup!!
Midnight Runners was my favorite!! My friends and I would meet every Tuesday night with around 100-150 other runners in Boston… yes it was a HUGE group!! You can see the run group on Instagram @midnightrunnersboston. They take you for a run loop around the Charles River, and you stop after each mile to do a group exercise (ab workout, squats, etc). The leaders of the group carry a huge speaker that blasts upbeat music to keep you going. It is SO much fun, and there are runners of ALL speeds!
All love,
Sabrina
