Finally!!
The time has come. Your bags are packed, you can feel the energy buzzing. There is so much joy and excitement when it comes to travel, as there should be! Whether it’s a vacation or even a work-trip, you’re changing up your everyday routine. Here are a couple tips to stay balanced and energized throughout your trip.
Pack some snacks in your bag!
You have definitely heard this before! I always have a snack in one of my bags, but since you’re going to a new city, will be walking/ moving more… it is essential to be prepared and have a carb/ protein rich snack handy. I love to keep some nuts with a piece of fruit, a good ol’ granola bar (usually one with nuts in it). Preferably one that has both carbohydrates and protein to keep you sustained.
Bring electrolyte packs
You may be like whattt? I’m not going hiking or running a marathon… why would I need that? If you are walking around a lot more often than normal, more stressed than usual, exerting yourself, sweating more, needing more water… electrolytes (mainly sodium, potassium, and magnesium) are something you should think about getting more of during these times. It can also be as simple as adding a few shakes of salt to your meal, eating foods rich in potassium throughout the day (ie; potatoes, cantaloupe, dried fruit, spinach, kale, banana, etc) or magnesium (avocado, brown rice, eggs, spinach, etc). What some people find easiest is mixing an electrolyte packet with water. Preferably one with all of the three main electrolytes mentioned above. Some brands such as LMNT/ Liquid IV offer all of the electrolytes you may need.
Try foods that are local to the area you’re in!! Dive into the culture
This is probably one of my top favorite things to do when I travel!! I have always loved trying new foods, especially ones from a new country. It gets me closer to the people and the culture that I am apart of. People are usually VERY proud of the food that they create, so sharing that excitement is such a fun time. If you are not into new flavors or don’t have a big food palate, no worries, do what makes you feel comfortable, BUT I encourage you to try something new at least once.
xx
